Under Construction |

They are doing road re-construction in my neighborhood this week, and as I sit on my porch to do my morning meditation and journaling, I am struck by the contrast of orange cones and yellow tape against a background of lush, green trees, bluebird skies and the sound of my bubbling fountain.
When I focus on the cones and tape I feel disrupted and a little anxious, as if they are screaming at me in warning of a terrible fate.
When I focus on the trees, sky and fountain I feel connected and calm, as if being gently encouraged go with the flow and trust the journey, while being aware that the road of life is always under construction and that I should stay alert as I go.

 My Mom was in labor for a long time with each of her five children, and it was a family joke that her labor time got longer every time she told the story! The memory still makes me smile. Maybe I wasn't quite ready to be born, who knows? I do know that I often felt "not ready" to take on life and business, like I always had my foot on the brake. It held me back for many years, until I asked myself: What are you waiting for?
